Project Spotlight: Fellowship Summer

Project Spotlight: Fellowship Summer

During the summer months, Israeli children who live in orphanages, unlike other children, don’t go to summer camp or join their families on trips. The children who most need to get out and have fun don’t get the opportunity.

To help these children feel that they are just like all other children, The Fellowship gives them a two-day, overnight outing of fun and adventure. Due to the generosity of our donors, 6,700 children between the ages of 5-18 will learn what it’s like to simply enjoy themselves, thanks to The Fellowship Summer project.

The activities include meals, transportation, attractions, and gifts so that the children will feel like VIPs. This is one of the highlights of their year. For many of these children, it will be the first time they have ever gone on a real vacation.

In order to make the children feel even more special, The Fellowship‘s Israel office turned to its Facebook followers with a request for notes of encouragement for the children. These greetings have been printed and placed on the beds in the guest houses at which the children will be staying and will greet them when they arrive.

The main letter from The Fellowship reads:

Dear Students,

We at The Fellowship send you greetings for a Fellowship Summer. We hope the trip will be fun, funny, delicious, and full of fun, pleasure, and special experiences!

We and thousands of people who are thinking about you send you lots of heartfelt blessings and good wishes.

We’re happy that you’re taking part in our summer program!

We wish you success and a fun summer holiday,

-Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein and The Fellowship
