Israelis You Should Know: Jamie Geller

This is a place holder image for bridge blog posts without an image selected.

Name: Jamie Geller

Family: Married with five children

Known for: Geller is one of the most famous Jewish food personalities worldwide; she has been called "The Kosher Rachael Ray."

About her: Jamie Geller was born in Philadelphia and was raised in a Jewish home in Pennsylvania. She attended Akiba Hebrew Academy High School before studying journalism and Hebrew language and literature at New York University. Before she got involved with cooking, she worked as a writer and television producer at CNN and HBO, where she worked on several of the network's original series, including The Sopranos.

In 2007, Geller published her first book, Quick and Kosher Recipes from the Bride Who Knew Nothing, which chronicles her experience of choosing Orthodox Judaism, her marriage, and learning to cook. She went on to write several cookbooks, and she founded Kosher Media Network, an integrated media and marketing company. In 2010, Kosher Media Network launched, which is now the largest and most popular kosher food and recipe website in the world. Today, Geller's website features over 6,000 kosher recipes.

In August 2012, Geller officially made aliyah (immigrated to Israel) and settled in the city of Beit Shemesh, where she lives today. She continues to cook and write, and travels around the world leading cooking demonstrations.

Fun fact: Geller wasn't always kosher - in fact, she committed to following a kosher diet at the same time she began learning to cook, shortly after she got married in her early 20s.

Passover a Sacred Time to Save Lives

Help the Unseen

You can heed the biblical mandate “not to turn away from your own flesh and blood” (Isaiah 58:7) and provide a needy elderly Jew, like Olga, with food, heating fuel, warm clothes, and blankets this winter. Every day is important as the harsh cold winds descend upon the former Soviet Union. Please prayerfully consider giving your best and most generous gift to The Fellowship today for this lifesaving work.
