For Such a Time as This

It came as no huge surprise to any Israeli that a bad nuclear deal was signed with Iran last week.  Yet, we still stand in disbelief and horror at what Prime Minister Netanyahu called a “historic mistake.”However, this is nothing new for the Jews. We have seen this story play out before numerous times. At our Passover seders, we recall that in every generation someone tries to destroy the Jews, but God rescues us every time. This truth is what we Israelis of faith hold onto during perilous times. We also cannot ignore the connection between Iran, modern-day Persia, and the events in Esther, when a man in ancient Persia tried to destroy the Jewish people. Destruction looked inevitable. Mass murder seemed unavoidable. But God turned the tables, and the day that was meant for harming the Jews became a cause for celebration for generations. At the same time we also need modern-day Esthers – people who are brave enough to speak up for the sake of Israel and her people. Today, I beg you to speak out against this dangerous deal. Israel desperately needs your voice “for such a time as this.” Make your voice heard.
