Faces of The Fellowship: Maria

Maria, an 87-year-old widow, lives in Nahariya, the northernmost coastal city in Israel. She made aliyah (immigrated to Israel) from the former Soviet Union in 1990, and is living out her final years in Israel alone. She has two sons, but she rarely sees either of them. One of them lives in the United States, and the other lives in central Israel. It’s impossible for her to travel to see even her son who lives in Israel, because she relies on a walker to get around.Maria struggles to survive on a small government pension, but it’s not enough for her to afford winter heating. She is so thankful to The Fellowship for providing her with the lifesaving gift of winter warmth, and is so grateful to know she is not alone.
