To date, The Fellowship has adopted 11 Israel Defense Forces battalions, pledging to support the welfare of the soldiers in these units. This funding provides for year-round activities, ceremonies, holiday celebrations, general recreational supplies and equipment, as well as discretionary funds to help lone soldiers or a soldier’s needy family.
The Gaza Division Southern Brigade, located in southern Israel near the Gaza border, is one of these adopted battalions. The Fellowship recently received thank-you letters from soldiers and commanders in this unit, including the one below:
To Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein and The Fellowship,
It’s not easy to express in a limited number of sentences the magnitude of appreciation and gratitude that we, the officers and soldiers of the Gaza Division Southern Brigade, have for the organization that you lead, and for the help we’ve received from you, both as individuals and as an organization.
Your support and assistance, which helps us during our daily routine, intensifies in times of battle like we experienced during Operation Protective Edge.
You are good people – very good people.
We hope to continue being worthy of the love you’ve bestowed on us, and to continue guarding our homeland.
To you dear people, many thanks and great success; continue warming our hearts.
Rabbi Eckstein, the activities you lead are nothing short of a life’s work. They inspire in us a strong need to say thank you from the heart and in the same breath requiring us to continue increasing our investment in performing our task in this region.
Best Regards, Appreciation and Fellowship,
Col. Dado Bar Kalifa
