November 25, 2015 By The FellowshipAs Thanksgiving approaches, we wanted to share this report from one of our IFCJ staff members in Israel about two more historic Freedom Flights that arrived today in Tel Aviv:202 new olim (immigrants) from Ukraine arrived safely in Israel today on two Fellowship Freedom Flights. 164 of the olim arrived on a flight sponsored by IFCJ Canada, while 38 olim arrived on a flight sponsored by IFCJ. Most of the olim who landed at Ben Gurion Airport this afternoon are refugees from war-torn Eastern Ukraine. Although tired, they are happy to be home in Israel, where, thanks to IFCJ and its supporters, they're finally able to leave the fighting and the confusion of war-torn Ukraine behind them.Yael Eckstein, IFCJ’s Senior Vice President, was at the airport to greet the olim with a smile, warm words, balloons, and flags. Some of our Canadian donors were also there to greet them. As the olim entered the arrivals terminal, they were also welcomed by the singing of boys and girls from the Bnei Akiva youth movement, who handed out balloons and Israeli flags to the tired but happy children. Later, IFCJ volunteers, retirees from the former Soviet Union, wrote down the immigrants’ new Israel ID and telephone numbers, and provided them with sandwiches and bottled water. Finally, the olim left the terminal where they entered vans that took them to their new homes to start their new lives in Israel – the homeland of the Jewish people. Thanks to all of our generous supporters who helped make this possible! Truly, this is a time for thanksgiving.
