Shavuot Treats for Israel's Elderly

This week as the Jewish people prepared to celebrate Shavuot, the Fellowship Hotline's staff of volunteers got together to make cakes and quiches for the holiday - goods to give to Israel's elderly and others in need who can't afford food or cannot cook for themselves.

The Fellowship provided the baking dishes, distributing them to the Hotline staff. Each staff member brought the finished products to the Hotline office on Monday morning. They then packaged the food and went out to distribute it in the Kiryat Yovel neighborhood of Jerusalem.

The feeling of not only being able to help people on the phone but also to see the grateful smiles on their faces inspired the entire staff.

In the words of one of the callers, "I had no idea what I was going to do about food today. You are my angels, now I have food and will be able to feel the holiday. But the feeling that I am not alone is the best. Thank you so much!"
