Faces of The Fellowship: Sarah

Sarah and her mother were forced to flee their home in Ukraine for the Caucasus region during the Holocaust. Though she was only 17 at the time, Sarah found work in a steel factory.

While she was grateful to be alive, Sarah was constantly cold in this area where temperatures fell to -40 degrees. Working daily in these frigid temperatures made her ill, forcing her to be hospitalized for a time. And she was often hungry.

Today, Sarah never has to worry about being cold or hungry, thanks to The Fellowship‘s With Dignity and Fellowship program, which provides impoverished elderly in Israel with food, medical assistance, and companionship. Sarah is a beneficiary of this project and receives prepared meals on a weekly basis. Recently Yael Eckstein also delivered to Sarah special winter heating help.

Sarah is grateful to avoid the cold and hunger that remind her of a difficult chapter of her life – and for the loving reminder that she is not alone or forgotten.

Learn how you can help impoverished elderly in need, like Sarah, receive the lifesaving care they desperately need.
