Faces of The Fellowship: Alexander

Faces of The Fellowship: Alexander (photo: JDC/Vladimir Shraga)

Alexander, 14, lives with his mother, step-father, and two half-siblings – 5-year-old Ian and 3-year-old Anatoly – in a small apartment in Kiev.

Alexander’s older sister, Ruslana, lives in Israel. Alexander wishes he could follow her there – not because his family is unkind, but because of the anti-Semitism he faces in school.

Alexander’s family also battles poverty. Alexander’s mother, Zhanna, works hard but does not make much. While she is at work, Alexander’s stepfather cares for the younger children.

The Fellowship helps the family by providing the children with food cards, clothing, and shoes. Last year, when Alexander’s youngest brother, Anatoly, had to be hospitalized, The Fellowship helped pay for the exam and treatment.

As he faces the daily realities of poverty and anti-Semitism, Alexander is grateful for the love and practical support from Fellowship friends around the globe.

Learn how you can help impoverished families in need, like Alexander's, receive the lifesaving care they desperately need.
