Jerusalem. Center of the world, Holy City of God, the place where all things began and history is destined to conclude. It figures prominently in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It has been the subject of literary works from William Shakespeare and John Milton to Mark Twain and Saul Bellow.
For Jews, it is the heart of our nation, of our people, of our faith. For Christians, it is where Jesus walked the streets and taught in the Temple. It is where the early followers of Jesus gathered, giving birth to the church. It is the city that both Christian and Jew look toward for the final days to be ushered in, and where God will establish His eternal kingdom.
