In the late nineteenth century, the Hebrew language existed only in biblical literature. But, as Rabbi Eckstein explains in this brief video, an extraordinary man recognized that Jews coming home to Israel from around the world needed a common language to unite them - and so began the re-birth of Hebrew as the living tongue of modern Israel.
